(11 am – 1 pm) Dan Carr, Stone Barns farmer and beekeeper, will demonstrate and explain the steps and care that go into honey harvesting. See how we pull the honey from the comb and taste its distinct flavors, gathered from the nectar of our area’s diverse and abundant flowers. Pre-registration required.
Preserving the Harvest: Pickling, Hilltop Hanover
(1:00 pm – 4:00 pm) Come join Farmer Will Summers of the Stony Point Center for this hands-on pickling workshop, where you’ll learn how to take your favorite summer veggies and turn them into sour snacks that you can enjoy all year long. Pre-registration required.
Foraged: A Wild Edibles Walk and Taste, Stone Barns
(1pm – 2:30pm) Discover what delicious foods grow where you might least expect them, and learn how to spot them on your home turf. After an hour-long walk, get inspired about what to do with your foraged ingredients in a recipe demonstration and tasting. Preregistration required.
Couples Cooking, Hilltop Hanover: Join Chef Donna Simons of Pound Ridge Organics for an interactive evening of culinary creation. Together you and your partner will learn how to cook from scratch several healthy and delicious restaurant-quality recipes. Pre-Registration required.
