Reducing Our Community’s Carbon Footprint
Mondays: February 5 – April 23

Join your neighbors and take the Pledge!

Go meatless one day a week during this community-wide campaign and help us achieve our Climate Action goals.

It’s a simple, once-a-week commitment from February 5 through April 23, 2018, to take meat, chicken and fish off our plates and replace them with nutrient-rich fruits, vegetables and whole grains. These lower-carbon foods create less greenhouse gas emissions and your participation will help us achieve our Climate Action goals.

Together, we will reduce our carbon footprint and conserve resources:

  • A plant-based diet has a smaller carbon footprint than a meat-based diet.
  • An estimated 1,800 to 2,500 gallons of water go into a single pound of beef.
  • About 40 calories of fossil fuel energy go into every calorie of feed lot beef in the U.S.

Pledge to participate and we will measure how much your participation reduces greenhouse gas emissions during the campaign.
